Most roofers will tell you that, if your roof is damaged beyond repair, the only remaining measure is to replace it. Although this works on paper, the problem is that a complete roof replacement costs serious money. Even a cheaper asphalt shingle roof can cost as much as $7,000. If your roof is larger or you want to use a more expensive material together with advanced coatings and upgrades, then it’s not uncommon for the new roof to cost $10,000 to $30,000 or even more.
If you don’t have access to that kind of money or you need some time before gathering it together or applying for a loan, then fortunately you still have a few alternatives that are readily available:
- A partial roof replacement is possible in some cases. It’s less expensive, and you might be able to find a dependable and skilled roofer who can pull it off.
- Attempting to repair an old or overly damaged roof can backfire. However, you can still ask your roofer to try it, and sometimes you can delay the inevitable by at least a few months or so.
- A quick patch up job can also be done to at least cover your roof as a temporary solution against leaks. Although this method can work if your area only experiences mild rain, the damage to the interior structure and any excess mold or mildew will eventually require you to spend some serious money on replacing your Shelby roofing.
