How To Tell If Your Roof Shingles Are Damaged

Contents

Roof Damage Shingle Damage

Roof shingles can get damaged because of severe weather, people walking on the roof and causing accidental damage, or simply because of wear and tear.

Shingles can be curled, cracked or pulled off by the wind and debris carried by it, they may break under the heavy load of snow accumulation, or they can be accidentally damaged by people walking on the roof or performing other repairs. When something like this happens, it is important to assess the damage and fix it immediately, to prevent subsequent water damage and deterioration of the indoor comfort.

How to check for shingle damage

Unless the damage is very visible (missing shingles from the roof), you will have to consider performing a closer inspection of the roof. It must be done at least twice a year, or after each severe weather phenomenon. If you are not experienced to perform the inspection on your own, you should call a professional roofer.

Shingles can be made of different materials and damage may look different. For example, if you have wood shingles/ shakes, look for signs of mold or decay, as well as for splitting or curling. When it comes to composition shingle, look for, loss of granulation, broken, damaged or missing shingles. As for metal the physical damage to a metal roof, it is mostly cosmetic and will look like small dents or deformations.

Professional, Knowledgeable, and stress free is how I would describe my experience with Roof One. From first call, a representative actually answers the phone with a friendly welcome. Jason was prompt and quick to come out and give a detailed consultation. Antonio’s crew was amazing! Not only were they on time, but a few minutes early. They made sure to walk me through the process and didn’t leave until the job was complete. Scott helped work with my insurance adjuster and went out of his way to make sure I was completely satisfied. Bill and Sandra in the office treated me like family and Steve, the owner, was very kind and welcomed me to the Roof One family. Phenomenal Job Roof One, my family and I couldn’t be happier - Thank you!

From the beginning to the end, Roof one really impressed me regarding their professionalism when roofing my house. In particular Steve and Mark managed this job wonderfully. The crew they sent over did such a wonderful quality job and made sure my property was free of nails and debris. I would definitely hire this company for a roof job. Very straight forward with their prices and options. I was also grateful they hooked up vent fans and provided a gorgeous flashing for my large chimney. Good job guys! Wish there were more contractors like you!
